Obsolete diesel engines 14D40 (12DN23/30) of locomotives M62 are replaced by engines 12ChN26/26 included in diesel-generator 5-26DG. The design of the new diesel-generator permitted to retain all the auxiliary and electric equipment of the locomotive.
Installation of diesel-generator 5-26DG implementing the latest design solutions on locomotives M62 permits to increase locomotive efficiency and to reduce:- maintenance and repair costs;
- fuel consumption by 24%;
- fuel consumption at idling ~ by a factor of 2,3;
- oil consumption ~ by a factor of 2,5…3,0.
Payback period for locomotive modernization including installation of diesel-generator 5-26DG is about 5 years.
Application examplesDiesel locomotives M62 equipped with diesel-generators 5-26DG have been in operation on Oktyabr’skaya railway since 1996. Since 2002 they have been supplied to Belarus and Mongolia. Diesel-generators are supplied complete with improved 2-stage air cleaning system (including multi-cyclones and paper filters).
Environmental compatibilityDiesel-generator 5-26DG has improved environmental compatibility as compared to diesel-generator 14DG and complies with the regulations R51250-99, R51249-99.
